Our aim is to blend the skills of customer/user research, requirements analysis, user experience design, and testing and evaluation into a unified approach that enables us to design and then optimise highly effective digital products.

    Founder

I learnt years ago that it’s impossible to design great user experiences by simply focusing on user experience (UX) design.

Great UX design needs to be built on having a deep understanding of, and empathy for, the user. That comes from the insight you get from customer/user research.

And, great UX design needs to enable users to fulfil their tasks – their real needs – in a system that the provider can fully support. Those are requirements that need to be elicited through requirements analysis.

And, once a great user experience has been designed, it shouldn’t stand still. Ongoing testing and evaluation can ensure that it is continually improved.

    What we are about

All too often, I found that the skills of user research, requirements analysis, and testing and evaluation were poorly integrated, or not even included at all, in the user experience design processes I saw being used.

My own background proved that this need not be the case. Having worked as a researcher, business analyst and user experience designer, I knew that there there was no immutable law that said that these skills could not be integrated, and effectively supported by testing and evaluation.

My aim was to bring all these disciplines together into a unified approach that would enable the design and subsequent optimisation of highly effective digital products that users would find really simple to use and help clients transform the efficiency of their business.

This is what we have achieved at Required Experience.

Is Scrum failing users – or, where are the Product Owners?

There are six times as many Certified ScrumMasters as there are Certified Scrum Product Owners. Does this mean Scrum is failing users?

  • Our associates

At Required Experience, we use an associate model that allows us to scale up to any size of commission.

Our associates are all highly experienced in their specialist area, and all operate to at least SFIA Level 4 – Enable capability.

It’s an Agile model that means we have precisely the right number of associates working on all our commissions at any given time. We never have to fund a “bench” of unused consultants from our fees, which means our fees can be smaller than those charged by consultancies that need to fund unused consultants.
